It’s been a year since Sean Deaux released the first installment of his Vice City series, (the name of which you can find tattooed boldly on his knuckles) but all that is about to change very, very soon. Deaux, a notable member from the Hip-Hop collective, THEMpeople, has been active in and around the Chicago scene for some time, but within the last few months, the thick bearded R&B artist has been heard working closely next to the likes of fellow Windy City artists Mick Jenkins, SAVEMONEY’s Donnie Trumpet and Towkio, and fellow bandmate, theMIND. And that’s just recently.
Even though fans of Deaux and his THEMpeople counterparts are anxiously anticipating the St. Louis transplant’s forthcoming effort, Vice City 2, we can all collectively exhale as Deaux has relieved us, for a bit, with an all new single, “Can’t Go.” But, as he notes in the credits on his Soundcloud, this seemingly hollowed, eclectic THEMpeople production was actually recorded in 2014.
Deaux’s velvet vocals flutter in waves on the diverse instrumental to express a deep, yet tender yearning to keep a love around that is far from over. But will she stick around? We may never know.
Take a listen.
