Arin Ray’s inspirations as an artist come from close to home, growing up in a big musical household in Cincinnati, Ohio. His father was a producer for Kevon Edmonds and drummer for New Edition, his mother was a singer, and his aunt backed up the great Motown legend, Marvin Gaye. A talented writer, producer, and singer in his own right, Arin Ray’s first sight onto the greater msuic scene came after an audition for the X Factor, eventually climbing his way to the Top 10 and impressing the judges, including the Grammy Award winning will.i.am. Since departing the show, Ray released his first single, “Turn It Up” on Souncloud in 2013 (which seems to have been since removed), marking the introduction to his solo career.
Flash forward three years to today and the now 20 year old Ray is showing the world how he has matured since his days on the X Factor with an all new EP. For six tracks, Ray takes on a variety of atmospheric Electronic soundscapes executive produced by Ray himself and Chicago production duo Nez & Rio, showcasing his R&B catered vocal dexterity and inking in his own signature style with the pen. Here, Ray exposes his own growth on wax, as told through the different PHASES of love and heartbreak, and blooms into an artist to keep your ears on now and into the future.
