In a recent posting by XXL Magazine, Rapsody and her mentor 9th Wonder are looking to shred the hip hop archetype of gender inequality by threading dope production over high quality lyricism over, and over, and over again. Despite the fact that she isn’t flaunting her sexuality like other high profile female rappers, Rapsody continues to deliver scolding hot lyrics, rapping side by side with some of the best male MCs in the game to prove she can hang with the boys and even shine brighter. Her latest project, She Got Game, was one attempt to shed this “female rapper” skin, and she proves that her mold will never fit in the box the mainstream would like to place her in. And that’s a damn good thing. Her latest single, “Kingship,” is also featured on her SGG, and features production from DJ Premier.
